Obituary: Kathleen A. Binder

Kathleen A. Binder, age 87, of Beaver Dam, died Monday, January 4, 2016 at Hillside Manor. 

Visitation for Kathleen will be at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 511 S. Spring Street in Beaver Dam, on Saturday, January 9, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at church on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.  Rev. Michael Erwin will officiate.  Burial will be at St. Patrick Cemetery in Beaver Dam.

The former Kathleen Ann Aukofer was born on May 8, 1928 in Waukesha, Wisconsin to the late Jacob and Helen (Moylan) Aukofer.  On May 15, 1948, she was united in marriage with Raymond Pearson; he preceded her in death on January 17, 1954.  On September 3, 1955, Kathleen was united in marriage with Harvey Binder.  They enjoyed going to flea markets and buying and selling items.  Kathleen began her working career at Odeon Movie Theater in Beaver Dam making popcorn.  She went on to work at Drennan’s, Woolworth’s and Spurgeon’s.  Kathleen was a Girl Scout Leader when she was younger and enjoyed collecting dolls and bears more recently.  She also enjoyed the monthly trips to the casinos.  Kathleen was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Parish and had previously been active in the St. Patrick’s Catholic Women.

Survivors include her three daughters, Barbara (Russell) Schwarz of Charles City, Iowa, Karen Getz of Oregon, WI, and Sharon Binder of Sun Prairie; a step-son, Robert (Jeanne) Binder of Sister Bay; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.  Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents; her first and second husbands;  and her brother, John Aukofer.
