Obituary: Donald J. Bohl

Donald J. Bohl, age 86, of Beaver Dam, died Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam from complications of Esophageal Cancer.

Visitation for Don will be at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 511 South Spring St. in Beaver Dam on Saturday, January 16, 2016 from 8:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 a.m.  Fr. Michael J. Erwin will officiate.  

Donald was born on April 5, 1929 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to the late Robert and Helen (Rosenmeier) Bohl.  He graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1947.  On October 9, 1954, Don was united in marriage with Norma Dorshorst at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marshall.  Don farmed the family farm with his father, and later with his family, for many years.  He served on the DHIA Board and the Cal-Can Advisory Board for several years, he served on the Flyway Mutual Insurance Board, and he also served on the Dodge County Co-op Board for many years, where he also served as Chairman.  Don was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Parish.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Bohl of Beaver Dam; children and grandchildren, Howard (Cathie) Bohl of Beaver Dam: Amy, Mike, Megan, and John (Ali); Annette (Paul) Mayer of Reeseville: Travis and Haley; Donna (Jerrold) Klawitter of Beaver Dam: Dan (Jill), Laura (Jamie) Jones, and Erin (Josh) Bergie; Bob Bohl of Beaver Dam; Mary (Len) Gestout of Appleton: Justin; James (Brenda) Bohl of Beaver Dam: Jessica (Mike) Hendrickson; and Joe (Brenda) Bohl of Beaver Dam: Andy Bohl and Rachel Fister; three great grandchildren; three sisters, Rosemary Ison of North Carolina, Joanne Bohl of Beaver Dam, and Carol Klas of Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert Bohl; and two brothers-in-law, Lloyd Klas and Bill Ison.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Hillside Manor and all of Don’s doctors and nurses for their exceptional care. Also, thank you to Fr. Mike Erwin for his visits and support.
