Obituary: Gerald “Jerry” Edmund Sauer Sr.

Gerald “Jerry” Edmund Sauer Sr., age 71 of the town of Manchester, went to be with his Lord after a brief battle with cancer on January 14, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.

Gerald was born on May 10, 1944 in Beaver Dam, WI to thelate Edmund and Ruth (Fisher) Sauer.  On June 25, 1966 he was united in marriage to Mary Munro in the Town of Scott.  Gerald was a farmer on the family farm for years, up until retirement.  His family, especially his grandchildren, and friends were Jerry’s passion and joy.  He loved cutting wood and collecting tractors.

Gerald is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary; his children, Gerald (Jennifer) Sauer Jr. of Cambria, Shelley Siewer (Tony) of Fond du Lac, Sheila Sauer (Nic) of Appleton; grandchildren, Brooke Siewert (Corey Kreuziger), Christian, Chastity, Caylee, Caralee and Cameron Sauer and Ashtyn Klick (Tyler); one great grand-daughter, Evelyn Kreuziger; sisters, Judy Rueckert of Beaver Dam, Janice (Michael) Detrie of Watertown; sisters-in-law, Donna (Jerry) Wiersma of Milwaukee, Rose (Duane) Huebner of Escalon, CA and Roberta Devries (Roger) of Randolph; brothers-in-law, David (Kathy) Munro of Beaver Dam, Bob Munro of Randolph; and further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

He is preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Harold and Adeline Munro and son-in-law, Jeffrey Siewert. 

A Funeral Service for Gerald will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Evangelical Church, N9497 Inglehart Rd., Cambria with Rev. William Heisler officiating.  He will be laid to rest following the service at Pleasant Hill Cemetery (Inglehart Cemetery) in the Town of Scott.

Visitation for Gerald will take place on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Evangelical Church, Cambria.
