Obituary: Deloures E. Pagel

Deloures E. Pagel, age 93, of Juneau, died on Monday, February 01, 2016 at Hillside Manor.

The visitation will be at St. John’s Lutheran Church on Sunday, February 7, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral service at 3:00 p.m. Rev. Paul Hirsch and Rev. Paul Schupmann will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery on Monday, February 8, 2016 at 11:00 a.m.

The former Deloures Esther Kant was born on January 6, 1923 in Oak Grove, Wisconsin to Henry and Minnie (Zimmerman) Kant. She was confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Oak Grove and was later united in marriage there with Lorenz Pagel on January 10, 1942. Deloures was a devoted farm wife, working with her husband on the family farm in the Town of Oak Grove. She was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Juneau where she was involved with the choir and ladies aide. Deloures enjoyed playing sheepshead, whether it was at the Juneau Senior Center or get-togethers with friends. She loved cooking and was known for her delicious schaum torte. In Deloures’ later years, she worked a number of years at Clearview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Juneau.

Survivors are her children, Lois (Eugene) Voigt of Juneau, and Lyle Pagel of Juneau; grandchildren, Kevin (Amy) Voigt of Juneau, Jennifer (Steve) Bonilla of Fond du Lac, Sarah (Kevin) Hammond of Madison, and Heather (Tim) Hammond of Watertown; great grandchildren, Victoria (Chris) Redecker, Joshua Voigt, Nick Voigt, Katelyn Bonilla, Ashley Bonilla, Noah Hammond, Abbie Hammond, Madeline Hammond, and Matthew Hammond; great-great grandchildren, Elliott and Wyatt Redecker; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Wittnabel of Ashippun, Jewell Pagel of Iron Ridge, and Virginia Scheberl of Mayville; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sisters, Loretta Kant, Angie Nehls, Alexia Weinheimer, and Eldora Binder; and six brothers-in-law. 

The family would like to thank the staff at Hillside Manor for the exceptional care that was given to Deloures.

If desired, memorials may be made in Deloures E. Pagel’s name to St. John’s Lutheran Church or School, or to Lakeside Lutheran High School.
