Obituary: Myrtle V. Young Clifton

Myrtle V. Young Clifton, 89, of Beaver Dam and formerly of Danville, IL passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Sylvan Crossings in Beaver Dam.

A memorial service for Myrtle will be held on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 1:00 p.m.  at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home, N7199 N. Crystal Lake Road, Beaver Dam with the Rev. Sandra Schieble officiating.  A visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Inurnment will take place at a later date at Spring Hill Cemetery in Danville, Illinois.

Myrtle Viola was born on March 6, 1927 the daughter of Charles and Hazel (Rhodes) Suycott in Danville, IL.  She was a graduate of Danville High School, attended the Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, IL and also attended music school in Chicago.  Music was a very important part of Myrtle’s life.  She was a trained opera singer and was a founding member of the Light Opera House in Danville, IL.  She attended school with Dick Van Dyke.

Myrtle operated the Park Ridge Chamber of Commerce and later the Waupun Chamber of Commerce. She retired as the executive director of the Beaver Dam Chamber of Commerce.  She had also been involved with the National PTA.  

Myrtle is survived by her daughter Cherie Power of Bosie, ID; her son Mark (Gillian) Young of Fairport, NY and her grandson Michael Power of Bosie, ID.  She is further survived by many close friends including Jeff Kitchen and Tracy Trost.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Kevin Young and her brother Charles R. Suycott.
