Ruth Mae Lenz Tesch, age 94 of Juneau, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam where she was a resident for the past 9 months due to declining health.

Ruth Tesch was born on August 23, 1921 in a farm house in Calamus township, Dodge County, WI to Herman and Martha (Bungert) Lenz. She was baptized, confirmed and married in Zion Lutheran Church, Columbus. On June 26, 1948 she married Paul Tesch, who preceded her in death in April 1992. Together Paul and Ruth were dairy farmers in Oak Grove township, Dodge County, WI.  They were members of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Juneau.

Ruth emulated the spirit of her pioneer ancestors, passionate about the things that were important to her. She believed in learning and education, spent countless hours poring over her sets of encyclopedias.  She delighted over the beauties of God’s creation, a pretty feather, the first flowers of spring, the flight of the Canadian geese, her rose bushes, black caps and mulberries. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren fiercely. She trusted the will of God without question.

Ruth is survived by her children, Carol  (George) Peeper of Doylestown and Donald (Cindy) Tesch of Juneau; grandchildren, Adrian Peeper, Rebecca (Tony) Kikkert, Anthony (Katie) Tesch, Christie (Joel) Belstra, and Charles (Alana) Tesch; 6 great-grandchildren;  her sister Marcella Kolisch of Milwaukee; sisters-in-law, Hilda Lenz of Tomah and Wilma Lenz of Columbus; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Paul; her parents; family members, Bill (Elizabeth) Lenz, Arthur Lenz, Herbert Lenz, Edward Lenz; brother-in-law, Howard Kolisch; brother Raymond Lenz; in-laws, Otto (Lydia) Tesch, Arneau Tesch, Herbert (Leone) Tesch, Lester, Eva and Elda Tesch, Clarence (Doris) Tesch, Alice (Raymond) Kranz, Laura (Harold) Tietz, and Harvey (Delores) Tesch,  several nieces and nephews, and three unborn children.

Visitation for Ruth will be held on Sunday, April 24, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 400 S. Main Street, Juneau with Rev. Paul Schupmann officiating. Burial will take place at Juneau City Cemetery.

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation for the kindness, respect and quality of care that Ruth received at Hillside Manor and in the Beaver Dam Community Hospital ICU unit.  The community and surrounding area are so lucky to have you!
