Buehl H. “Cuffy” Cuff, age 91, died Saturday, June 11, 2016 at the Golden Living Center in Beaver Dam.
Friends and family may call at Grace Presbyterian Church in Beaver Dam on Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 12:00 PM to 12:50 PM. Funeral services will follow at church on Thursday, beginning at 1:00 PM. Rev Chris Davis will officiate. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Beaver Dam where the Beaver Dam American Legion will provide military honors
Buehl Harry Cuff was born on April 18, 1925 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to the late Allen and Bernice (Thomas) Cuff. He graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1943 and enlisted in the United States Navy to serve during World War II. He achieved the rank of Seaman 1st Class and Gunner’s Mate. Buehl served in Asiatic/Pacific Campaign, European/African/Middle Eastern Campaign, and American Campaign and was involved in the Landing at Normandy. He returned from the war in 1946 and was an Iron Worker for Local 383 in Madison for many years. Buehl was united in marriage with Goldie Rogers in the fall of 1948; she preceded him in death in 1975. In 1977, he was united in marriage with Evelyn Matthews Cuff; she preceded him in death in 2007. Buehl was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Beaver Dam where he was a past Elder and Deacon. He was also a member of the Beaver Dam American Legion John E. Miller Post #146 and the VFW Clarence Keske Post #1163.
Survivors include his five step-children, Robert (Donna) Mietzel of West Bend, Eugene (Shirley) Matthews of Beaver Dam, Carolyn (James) Michal of Olympia, Washington, Catherine (Michael) Sherry of Tacoma, Washington, and John (Anita) Matthews of Escondida, California; 12 step grandchildren, including a special granddaughter, Stephanie (James) Nordquist of West Bend; many step great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
He was impressed of his opportunity to fly aboard the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight so the family suggest that memorials be made in Buehl Cuff’s name to Stars and Stripes Honor Flight, http://www.starsandstripeshonorflilght.org/
