Here’s the beav, celebrating the publication of Harry Potter, which was first published 19 years ago on 26 June 1997 . . .
. . . and now it’s hard for us to imagine a time when Quidditch, Voldemort, Hagrid, Muggles, and Dumbledore were not prominent pieces of the English language.
A couple of interesting Potter facts:
1. The Potter books have become the best selling book series in history.
2. Initially, J.K. Rowling planned to publish her books under Joanne Rowling, but her publisher was concerned that young boys might prefer a male author, so she switched to something gender neutral.
