Obituary: Elaine M. Labs

Elaine M. Labs, 69, of the Town of Fox Lake and formerly of Wauwatosa passed away peacefully on Sat., July 2, 2016.

A memorial service for Elaine will be held on Monday, July 11th at 2:00 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 400 Hillcrest Drive, Beaver Dam with the Rev. Mark Wenzel officiating.  Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. also at the church.

Elaine was born on August 8, 1946 the daughter of Hubert J. and Dorothy A. (Kaliebe) Brown in Milwaukee, WI.  She was a graduate of Wauwatosa East High School. She received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from UW Milwaukee.  On August 26, 1967, she was united in marriage to Thomas E. Labs at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Wauwatosa.  

Elaine enjoyed being a teacher for many years in both elementary school and pre-school.  Kids were her life.  Elaine had a great passion for reading and she loved spending time with her family and friends at her home on Fox Lake.  She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.

Elaine is survived by her husband, Tom of Fox Lake; her three daughters: Amy (Gregory) Tierney of Delafield, Kate (Michael) Searing of Wauwatosa and Suzanne (Jamie) York of Menomonee Falls; eight grandchildren: Lindsay, Hailey and Connor Tierney, Stephen, Sophia and Nathan Searing and Brady and Sydney York; her sister, Donna (Richard) Chojnacki of Gilbert, AZ and her brother, Howard (Patricia) Brown of Grand Rapids, MI.  She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Brain Tumor Association or to a children’s charity of one’s choice.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Elaine’s doctors, especially Dr. Jennifer Connelly, Dr. Malika Siker and nurses Renee and Dana of Froedtert Cancer Center, and the Kramer Cancer Center in West Bend, especially nurses Linda and Tammy.
