Obituary: Lucille “Lucy” M. Sazlwedel

Lucille “Lucy” M. Sazlwedel, age 85, of Columbus, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at the Larson House.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m at the Koepsell-Zeidler Funeral Home, 146 S. Dickason Blvd. in Columbus.

Lucy was born to Augustus and Laura (Poster) Sauer on August 3, 1930 in Buckman, Minnesota. On November 12, 1949 Lucille was united in marriage with Merlin R. Salzwedel in Lake Mills, Wisconsin. Lucy was proud to have earned her Certified Nursing Assistant Degree, and enjoyed working as a CNA. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Columbus. Lucille also enjoyed playing euchre, was an avid bingo player, but most of all Lucy enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children; Carrie Salzwedel-Wapneski, Cathy Toellner, Cheryl Kidd, Darci (Michael) Mosher, and Craig (Kimberly) Salzwedel, her siblings; Margret (Warren) Pike and Mary Grossman, her 15 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.

Lucy is preceded in death by; her parents, husband Merlin in 2004, son Calvin M. Salzwedel, daughter Debra K. Van Der Mei, grandchildren Hailey and Hannah Mosher.

Memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church in Columbus.
