Obituary: Lois A. Jezyk

Lois A. Jezyk, 87, of Beaver Dam passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

A visitation for Lois will be held on Monday, October 17th from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at St. Katharine Drexel Parish in Beaver Dam.  A Mass of Christian Burial will also be held on Monday, Oct. 17th at 1:00 p.m. at St. Katharine Drexel Parish with Father Michael Erwin as Celebrant.  Inurnment will follow at a later date at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in Beaver Dam.

Lois was born on August 21, 1929 the daughter of Alvin and Leila (Hiller) Burgdorff in Plymouth, WI.  On June 30, 1951, she was united in marriage to Alois “Al” Jezyk at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Beaver Dam.  She had been employed at Kraft Foods for over 30 years.

Lois was a faithful member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish in Beaver Dam.  She was a proud lunchroom volunteer at St. Katharine Drexel School.  She loved to go on field trips with her grandchildren.  Lois enjoyed knitting prayer shawls and other items that she donated to St. Katharine Drexel Parish.  She also enjoyed the book club that she belonged to with her granddaughter and friend, Angeleen.

Lois is survived by her three children: Christine (Kevin) Bedker, Anthony (Kay) Jezyk and Mary (Kenneth) Strauss all of Beaver Dam; nine grandchildren: Kevin Jr. (Katie), Aaron (Amber) and Jordan Bedker, Anthony Jr, Jade, Alisha and Cullen Jezyk, and Angeleen (Shane) and Nathan Strauss; five great grandchildren: Owen and Sonia Bedker, Layla Jezyk, Avery and Elaina Ruff; and her sister Betty Riggs of Indiana.  She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Al in 2003 and her sister Marion Mace.

Memorial donations in Lois’ name may be made to St. Katharine Drexel Parish or School, Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN) or to Hillside Hospice.
