Obituary: Frederick E. “Fritz” Kuenzi

Frederick E. “Fritz” Kuenzi, age 97, died Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam.

A memorial gathering will be held at Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home on Friday, October 28, 2016 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM.  A Celebration of Fred’s life will follow at the funeral home at 2:00 PM. John R. Leiting will be the celebrant.  Inurnment will be at St. Peter Cemetery in Beaver Dam. 

Frederick Edward Kuenzi was born on June 28, 1919 in the Town of Chester, Dodge County, Wisconsin to the late Fred and Alvina (Kappelle) Kuenzi.  On February 22, 1941, he was united in marriage with Sylvia Meyer in Beaver Dam.  Fred served in the United States Army as a combat engineer from 1942 to 1945 and spent much of that time in Burma.  He was self-employed as a mason in his early working years and worked as a mechanic at International Harvester in Beaver Dam until he retired.  Fred enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trips to Winter, Wisconsin.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Kuenzi of Beaver Dam; four children, Gordon Kuenzi of Beaver Dam, DuWayne (Mary Ann) Kuenzi of Beaver Dam, Kathleen (George) Heine of Minnesota Junction, and Warren (Mary Jo) Kuenzi of Beaver Dam; 10 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Fred was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter-in-law, Naomi Kuenzi; two brothers, Rudolph Kuenzi and Merlin Kuenzi; and three sisters, Evelyn Heim, Dorothy Gossfeld, and Gertrude Kolitz.
