Obituary: Verna M. Schultz

Verna M. Schultz, 96, of Burnett passed away on Friday, November 4, 2016 at Eagle’s Wings in Beaver Dam.

Funeral services for Verna will be held on Friday, November 11, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Burnett with the Rev. Timothy Sallach officiating.  A visitation will also be held on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the church.  Interment will follow at Burnett Central Cemetery.  

Verna was born the daughter of Gottfried and Martha (Barsch) Kledhen on September 19, 1920 in Burnett.  She was a graduate of Waupun High School. On June 1, 1941, she was united in marriage to Lawrence C. Schultz.  

She was employed at Wayland Academy until her marriage when she began farming.  Later, was employed at Heiling’s Garage and then Verna retired from Gardner Manufacturing in 1983.  Verna was a faithful and active member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Burnett.  She was a member of the Ladies Aid, LWML, served as organist and pianist, and took care of countless duties at the church.  She was also a member of the Burnett Fireman’s Auxiliary.

She is survived by her daughter Alleen “Butch” (Hiram) Justman of Burnett; three grandchildren: Scott (Kristi) Justman, Steve (Julie) Justman and Amy (Chris) Schmoldt; seven great grandchildren: Michael, Jason, Brandon, Cullen, Sarah, Jacob and Tanner.  She is further survived by other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lawrence and her sister Ruth Kledhen.

Memorial donations in Verna’s name may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) or to Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Burnett.
