?Here’s the Beav enjoying Sadie Hawkins Day, when the Gals invite the Guys.  It’s a tradition that was born of a comic strip, Li’l Abner, when eligible bachelors were challenged to a foot race and fleet-foot females were offered a chance to “earn” a buck.
The absolutely correct date to observe Sadie Hawkins Day is a bit of a mystery. Some celebrate on Nov 13.  Others on Nov 15.  Others on the first Saturday following Nov 9.  Still others celebrate on Feb 29.?
Leap Day has special significance because, according to legend, that is the day St. Patrick set aside for women to ask men to marry them, after St Bridget complained about the tortoise-like approach that some men seem take when popping the question.
