Obituary: Thomas “Tom” Fredrick Selk

Thomas “Tom” Fredrick Selk, age 45 of Randolph, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, November 26, 2016.

Tom was born on September 19, 1971 in Beaver Dam, the son of Vernon and Joan (Gove) Selk. He graduated from Randolph High School and was a lifelong farmer at heart. Tom managed the Selk Family Dairy until September 2000 and worked various jobs until he found his dream job in 2012 at UW Center for Dairy Research milking cows. He also worked at Mendota Mental Health Institute, where he established many special relationships with both his coworkers and patients. On September 18, 2016 he married the love of his life, Jeannie Fielder.

Tom will be remembered for his love of the Milwaukee Brewers, Marquette Golden Eagles and Milwaukee Bucks, but mostly for the love of his three boys, Casey, Brayden and Jaice. Tom was raised with a large family, who were all by his side when he jumped into God’s arms. Rest in peace son, father, brother and uncle. Love, Your Family.

Tom will be dearly missed by his wife, Jeannie; his sons, Casey (Cheyenne), Brayden and Jaice; his step-children, Desi (Nate) and Brandon Fielder; his parents, Vernon and Joan Selk; his siblings, Todd (Nan) Selk, Terri (Dave) Kelm, Tammy Selk, Tracey (Scott) Sadoski, Trisha Selk, Tara (Bruce) Selk-Bartels, Tim Selk and Tyler (Shelly) Selk; nieces and nephews, Chris, Aaron (Libby) and Kyle Kelm;, Kimberly (Mike) Biel; Zach (Morgan), Jake and Dominic Brooke; Amanda, Bree, Kenzie, Collin, Eli, Gavin and Nolan Selk; Brandon, Jordan and Cari Witthun; great-nieces and nephew, Violet Kelm, Bennett and Bristol Biel; lifelong friend, Steve (Jenny) Vujnovich; mother of Brayden and Jaice, Christine Perkins-Nimmo; other relatives and many friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Sturley and Luella Selk; maternal grandparents, George (Jeanette) Gove; infant sister, Tanya J. Selk and other relatives.

Visitation for Tom will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at St. Jerome Catholic Parish, 1550 Farnham St. in Columbus and also on Thursday at St. Jerome’s from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. (noon).

A Mass of Christian Burial for Tom will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Jerome Catholic Parish in Columbus with Fr. Steve Kortendick as Celebrant.
