Obituary: Eric O. Muetlein

Eric O. Muetlein, 89, of Beaver Dam and formerly of Three Lakes, WI passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at UW-Hospital in Madison.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2016 from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam.  Inurnment will take place at Three Lakes Cemetery at a later date.

Eric was born on March 24, 1927 and raised in Stuttgart, Germany.  He served in the Germany Army during WWII and later immigrated to the United States.  He was married to Claudette Farmer on December 28, 1974 in Coal City, IL.  He became a U.S. citizen in 1975.  Eric dedicated his career as a chemist.  After immigrating from Germany in 1956, he began his career as Director of Research for Standard Industrial, Frankfort, IL.  In 1957, he became Plant and Laboratory Manager after the company sold to Nopko, NJ under Diamond Shamrock until 1968 when he started as partner and Vice President of operations for Bowers-Siemon Chemicals Co., Coal City, IL until 1986.  Afterwards, he became sales manager of Beaver Metals in Beaver Dam until his retirement in 1992.  Eric was a member of the NRA and was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman.

Eric is survived by his wife, Claudette of Beaver Dam; his son, Paul (Michelle) Muetlein of Three Lakes; his granddaughter, Ava; his step-son, Danny (Debbie) Burger of Seneca, IL; his step-grandchildren: Kenny, Sarah, and Lisa; his special niece, Helen (Charlie) Kurth of Beaver Dam; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his two sisters.
