Obituary: Fay W. Broetzmann

Fay W. Broetzmann, 69 years old, of Beaver Dam, passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at his home.

A funeral service for Fay will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home, N7199 N. Crystal Lake Rd in Beaver Dam with the Rev. Terry Larsonofficiating. A visitation will be held prior from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Rocky Run Cemetery in Rio.  In keeping with Fay loves of sports, please feel comfortable to attend in your favorite sports attire.

Fay was born on May 29, 1947 to Harold and Helen (Willard) Broetzmann in Milwaukee, WI. He was a graduate of Portage High School, Columbia County Teachers College, and U.W. Oshkosh, and U.W. Milwaukee, where he was working on completing his Master’s Degree in Education. Fay was employed as a teacher and coach for 6th – 8th grade and later as Principal. He taught Science, P.E., and English. Later, Fay was employed for 18 years in finance and sales at Schmitt Ford in Thiensville and Brookfield, and Roskopf Ford in Mayville. Fay worked for 14 years as the 1st line service and lead service at Richelieu in Beaver Dam. 

Fay was a former member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville, where he was active as an usher. He was a member of the Mayville Lion’s Club. Fay enjoyed bowling, especially bowling tournaments.  He was an avid Wisconsin sports fan, especially the Green Bay Packers.

Fay is survived by his fiancée of 13 years Barb Greenleaf; his son Mark (Amy) Broetzmann; his step-sons Brett ( Kim) Schroeder and Ryan (Julie) Schroeder; his step-daughter Schellagh Dehler; and Barb’s children Heather Greenleaf and Ben Greenleaf; many grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Fay is preceded in death by: his parents and his son Cory William Broetzmann.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the charity of one’s choice.
