Ralph H. Arndorfer, age 85, of Beaver Dam, died peacefully on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at the Charleston House Memory Care.
The visitation will be at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church on Friday, February 17, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:20 a.m. The legion is invited to walk through at the church on Friday at 11:00 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at the church on Friday at 11:30 a.m. with Fr. Mike Erwin officiating. Burial will be at St. Peter Cemetery in Beaver Dam with military honors provided by the John E. Miller American Legion Post #146.
Ralph Henry Arndorfer was born on October 21, 1931 to William and Alma (Zahn) Arndorfer. He was a 1949 graduate of Beaver Dam High School. Ralph enlisted in the United States Army in 1952 and served during the Korean War, ranking as Sgt. First Class and receiving two Bronze Service Stars. He was honorably discharged in 1954. Ralph married Doris Schulteis at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Beaver Dam on October 22, 1955. He worked in retail sales at Beaver Bootery for 28 years and later worked in the Dietary Department at Beaver Dam Community Hospital. Ralph also worked part-time at Rechek’s Food Pride. He was a dedicated member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish where he attended Mass regularly, was a Senior Mass Server, and was an acolyte at funeral Masses. He volunteered at Hillside Manor and for Meals on Wheels and if he had some spare time, he really enjoyed hunting and fishing. Ralph was also a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #146 and passionately combined his love for God and our country at every funeral for which he had the privilege of providing military honors.
Survivors are his wife, Doris of Beaver Dam; children, Peggy (John) Knothe of Johns Island, SC, Steven“Chewy” of Beaver Dam, Mary (Darcy) LaVeau of Austin, TX, Barbara (Matthew) McDonald of Northfield, MN; grandchildren, Joseph (Fhon), Eric (Ashley), and Gregory (Candice) Knothe, Kerry (Sara) Bence, Nicolet and Andrew LaVeau, and Katelyn and Thomas McDonald; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Catherine Zuhlke; and brothers, Paul, William, Robert, and Donald.
