Obituary: Dorothy E. Dittmann

Dorothy E. Dittmann, age 83, of Watertown, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at UW Hospital and Clinics in Madison.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Watertown with Rev. Todd Iverson officiating. Burial will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Watertown. Family and friends may gather at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. 

Dorothy Emma Ebert was born on December 6, 1933 in Watertown, the daughter of August and Emma (nee Schroeder) Ebert. She was a 1951 graduate of Watertown High School. On April 4, 1953, she was united in marriage to George E. Dittmann at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Watertown. George preceded her in death on January 10, 2008. Dorothy had been employed at Watertown Memorial Hospital in the surgery department as a surgical assistant for 25 years and at Dr. David Quanbeck’s office for 10 years until her retirement in 1999. She enjoyed gardening and canning. She was the “neighborhood caretaker” and was known for her homemade sauerbraten, pickles and grape jelly. Dorothy enjoyed her kitties, Izzy and Calie.

Dorothy is survived by her children, James (Kathy) Dittmann of Beaver Dam; Dawn Dittmann of Watertown; Jean Ann (Scott) Hinze of Cody, WY; Lori (Dale) Sjoberg of Watertown and Kelley (Andrew) Klauer of Winneconne; grandchildren: Anthony Dittmann, Benjamin Dittmann, Erik (Karyssa) Dittmann, Emma (Justin) Sutter, Melissa (Nick) Hinze-Rogakis, Jackelyn (Jose) Chazez, Ryan Klauer and Lukas Klauer; great-granddaughter, Aria Chazez; nephew, Lyle (Barb) Duesterbeck. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Eleanor (George) Duesterbeck; brother, Clarence Ebert; grandson, Jason Dittmann and son-in-law, Patrick Butler.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Watertown Humane Society.
