At about 12:28am on April 18, 2017, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office received a report from a City of Waupun Police Officer of a threat to the Waupun High School via Snap Chat.  We received information that a 15 year old who resides in the Waupun School District within Dodge County was the individual involved with sending out the threatening message.

An investigation into the incident immediately took place.  It was determined that a threat did take place, but the means to carry out the threat was not substantiated.  The 15 year old was located at home and was interviewed.  Consultation took place with Dodge County Human Services and the Dodge County District Attorney’s Office and appropriate actions are being taken to ensure the safety of the public.  The Waupun School District at this time has restricted the 15 year old from attending school and is not allowed on school grounds until further notice.

The Sheriff’s Office would like to assure the public that they are safe and it is safe to send students to school.  As this involves a juvenile, we are restricted from releasing further information on the actions being taken in this case.  The Sheriff’s Office and the Waupun Police Department will continue in coming days and weeks to ensure the safety of our schools as the investigation into this incident continues.
