Elizabeth Jonas, age 94 of Fox Lake, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at home.
Elizabeth was born on April 19, 1923 in Beaver Dam, the daughter of Herman and Hazel (Miller) Maurer. She graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1941. On November 5, 1947, she was united in marriage to Melvin Jonas in Beaver Dam. Elizabeth worked as the Town Treasurer of Fox Lake for 20 years. She also enjoyed selling produce at the Jonas roadside stand for over 30 years. She loved to cook and bake, and she treasured all of the time she spent visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband of over 70 years, Melvin; her son, Jerry (Cheryl) of Fox Lake; grandchildren, Kerry (Jason) Niemuth and Kathleen (Matt) Kwakkel; great-grandchildren, Liberti and Lydia Jonas; brother, Russell (Betty) Maurer; sister-in-law, Lorraine Jonas; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Jeffry; sister, Mildred (Harold) Hoepner; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and other relatives.
A memorial gathering for Elizabeth will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., Beaver Dam from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 3:00 p.m. Inurnment will take place at Riverside Memorial Park, Fox Lake.
