Obituary: Dwayne A. Braun

Dwayne A. Braun, 84, of Beaver Dam passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at his home by his family.

The memorial gathering will be at Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Friday, May 26, 2017from 10 a.m. until Noon. The American Legion is invited to walk through at 11:30 a.m. The memorial service will follow at the funeral home at Noon with celebrant John R. Leiting officiating.  Military honors will follow the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Beaver Dam at a later date.

Dwayne was born on July 25, 1932 in Juneau to Clarence and Martha (Parpart) Braun.  He was a graduate of Juneau High School.  Dwayne served his country in the U.S. Army from 1952 until 1954 where he was stationed in Panama.  He was united in marriage with Carol Rosenmeier on July 7, 1956 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Beaver Dam.  Dwayne owned and operated Braun Dairy in Beaver Dam for many years.  Afterwards, he sold real estate in the Beaver Dam area as well as a school bus driver for the Beaver Dam School District until his retirement.  

Dwayne was a member of the John E. Miller American Legion Post #146 in Beaver Dam.  He was active in the Beaver Dam Senior Center where he started the fishing club.  He was a lifelong member of the Beaver Dam Conservation Club.  Dwayne had a love of the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, and gardening.  He enjoyed watching and following both boys and girls high school basketball.  Dwayne especially loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  

Dwayne is survived by his wife, Carol of Beaver Dam; his children: Stephen (Lisa) of Indianapolis, IN, Michael (Deborah) of Beaver Dam, Susan Braun of Bloomington, IN, and Gary (Dana) Braun of Beaver Dam; his grandchildren, Christa and Zachary Braun, Bradley (Erica) Howland, Joanne (Ryan) Callies, Ryan (Kendra) Braun, and Mason and Elyse Braun; six great-grandchildren: Hunter, Braxton, Kasyn, Drake, Lydia and Audrey; his siblings: Janice Helmer, John (Beverly) Braun, Donna Jensen, Dawn Wehner, Lila Bahls, Darryl Braun, Norman (Jean) Braun, Vaughn (Judith) Braun, Daniel (Janet) Braun, Pamela Braun, and Charlene Selsing; his sisters-in-law: Marilyn and Shirley Braun; and numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Dwayne was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter in infancy, Jennifer; and his siblings: Virginia Braun,Clarence Braun, Thomas Braun, and Charles Braun. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hillside Hospice in Beaver Dam or a Veteran’s Service Organization of one’s choice.
