Snapshot of some Wall Dogs

Here’s the Beav, along with a couple of Walldog Artists:  John & Scott Holland, from California.  They are both professional artists.  John has been painting murals since 1969 and has a Bachelors in Graphic Design and a Masters in Graphic Design/Murals.  Scott has been an apprentice to his father since he was 15 and has branched out into air-brushing custom cars and motorcycles — and has been featured in Lowrider Magazine and at the SEMA Annual Show!
The recent “makeover” of Downtown Beaver Dam was performed by about 180 Wall Dogs from across the Globe.  The 15 Team Leaders, who were in charge of each individual mural, were provided some compensation.  However, the vast majority of the Wall Dogs worked for free and even had to pay their transportation costs to Beaver Dam!
The Wall Dogs usually descend upon one community each year to paint numerous murals.  The first Walldog mural was painted in 1993, in Allerton, Iowa, and was spearheaded by Nancy Bennett. According to John & Scott, they enjoy the camaraderie of working on a project with artists from around the world and the chance to share painting knowledge and techniques.  In addition, they view the Walldogs “vacation” as a benevolent opportunity to give back to the community.

Here’s the Downtown Beaver Dam webpage, which includes renderings of all 15 murals that were painted from July 26-29 (note — these are merely renderings and the artists added some fascinating ad libs/improvements, while they painted):
