Obituary: Debra R. Nelson

Debra R. Nelson, age 63 of Beaver Dam, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2017 at Dycora in Beaver Dam.

Debra was born on May 25, 1954 in Newcastle, WY, the daughter of Emil and Marlene (Winter) Mundt. She graduated from Waupun High School in 1972. On May 5, 1973, she was united in marriage to Larry Nelson at First Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. Debra worked as a cook at Rhodes Wooden WheelRestaurant for many years and also ran the Meeting Place in Randolph for five years. She was a member of Trinity Church – United Methodist in Beaver Dam. In her earlier years, Debra enjoyed attending concerts and bowling. Playing cards, doing puzzles, fishing, camping and taking her kids and grandkids to the movie theater were some of her favorite activities. She treasured her grandchildren dearly.

Debra is survived by her husband, Larry of Beaver Dam; children, Travis Nelson and Laura Nelson, both of Beaver Dam; daughter-in-law, Cindy Nelson of Beaver Dam; grandchildren, Richard, Susan and Rylee Nelson; sisters-in-law, Marcia Mickelson and Marilyn Mundt, both of Black Earth; her beloved dog, Sam and further survived by other relatives and friends.

Debra was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Richard “Dick” Braaksma; three brothers and other relatives.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., Beaver Dam from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Cherie Forret officiating.
