Walter “Wally” H. Tollers, 86, of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 7, 2018 at ThedaCare Medical Center in Waupaca.
A memorial gathering for Wally will take place Saturday, January 13, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. A Celebration of Life will follow at the funeral home at 11 a.m. with military honors conducted by the Beaver Dam American Legion Post #146. Inurnment will take place at Highland Memory Gardens in the Tn. of Trenton at a later date.
Walter Harold Tollers was born the son of Walter H. and Martha (Ehmke) Tollers on February 15, 1931 in Superior, Wisconsin. His previous marriage was to ErvellaGallup. On October 4, 1975 Wally was united in marriage with Donna Krueger McGilvra in Beaver Dam.
He proudly served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War from 1950-1953. After the service, Wally drove semi with his father-in-law. He was later employed with Green Giant as a mechanic for 20 years, where he retired in 1993. Wally enjoyed fishing and hunting, and liked to go snowmobiling and camping.
Walter is survived by his wife Donna Tollers of Beaver Dam, children; Janice (Tom) Norwood of Chili, Steven (Kate) Tollers of Marshfield, Michael (Jill) McGilvra of Fort Atkinson, Steven (Deb) McGilvra of Horicon, and Diane (DuWayne) Garb of Fox Lake, and Shannon (Maureen) McGilvra of Beaver Dam, half-sister; Marlene Winters of Oregon, WI, 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; and former wife Ervella Waugh. He is further survived by other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Wally was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sons; Bruce McGilvra and Phil McGilvra, brothers; Robert Tollers and George Tollers.
Memorial donations will be directed to the Wisconsin Veteran Homes at King in appreciation for the wonderful care that Walter received.
