Obituary: Lorraine A. Braker, age 90

Lorraine A. Braker, age 90, of Beaver Dam, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at her home.

A visitation for Lorraine will be held on Friday, February 2, 2018 from 10:30 a.m. until noon at St. Katharine Drexel Parish, 511 S. Spring Street, Beaver Dam. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will begin at noon at church with Father Michael Erwin officiating. Inurnment will be at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery at a later date.

Lorraine was born on June 1, 1927 the daughter of John and Dorothy (Polzin) Kostolny in Beaver Dam. She was a graduate of St. Agnes Nursing School, and was employed at several doctor’s offices in Beaver Dam as a nurse. On July 9, 1951 she was united in marriage with Laurence “Larry” E. Braker at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Beaver Dam.

Lorraine was a member of the Cadet Nurse Corps.  She enjoyed baking, reading, knitting and tending her flower gardens.  She loved babies of all kinds.  She enjoyed following Beaver Dam High School Athletics, as well as, the UW Badgers.  Lorraine also enjoyed going to Friday night fish fries with friends.

Lorraine is survived by her four sons; Daniel (Mary) Braker of Beaver Dam, Tom (Stephanie) Braker of Caledonia, Mississippi, David (Diane) Braker and Jim (Sally) Braker both of Beaver Dam, very special niece Pam Haas; her grandchildren; Kelsey Braker, Alannah Braker, Grant Braker, Davis Braker, Ben (Francisca) Braker, Josey Braker, Stefanie (Tyler) Buss, Katie (Ryan) Androff, Katy (David) Drews, Becky, Matthew and Nina, great grandchildren; Graham Drews, Lucas Braker, Keenan Androff, Colin Androff, Elle and Angela. Lorraine is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Larry on December 29, 2017, her sister Joanne Schwister, and her brothers Gordon Kostolny and Donald Kostolny.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Katharine Drexel Parish.
