Maxine Geneva (Bird) Chatterson, age 88, of Beaver Dam, died peacefully with her family by her side on February  26, 2018 at her Stone Terrace apartment.

Maxine Geneva Bird was born on June 25, 1929 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to Arthur and Veronica Bird. She graduated from Beaver Dam High school in 1947 and married Robert Eugene Chattersonon February 25, 1949 at the Beaver Dam United Methodist Church.

Beaver Dam is where they made their home, and raised their family, a son Gregory in 1950 and a daughter Deborah in 1952. Maxine was employed through the years at Monarch Range in the office, was a receptionist for Dr. Sterenberg’s Dental office, and was a crossing guard. Robert and Maxine were also custodians at Trinity Church United Methodist, where they had been long time members. The best job Maxine ever had was being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Maxine was a hard working mom, and took great pride in her family, home and friends. She had an enduring sense of loving to be with her family and friends, and liked to have a good time. After the passing of her husband Robert in September 1985 of brain cancer, Maxine had the help of a true friend Ray Pieper, who became her life partner for 25 years.

Maxine is survived by her children; Gregory (Kathleen) Chatterson of Ripon, Deborah (John) Prasch of Wild Rose, grandchildren; Sarah Prasch, Lucas (Courtney) Prasch, Jennifer (Jeremy) Szymkowiak, and Patrick Chatterson, great-grandchildren; Sam, Hannah, Grace, and Stephen, a sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Arthur Bird and Veronica (Wolf) Bird, her in-laws, Robert E. Chatterson, a friend and partner in life Ray Pieper, brother Virgil Bird, nephew Roger Bird, and aunts and uncles.

A funeral service for Maxine will be held on Monday, March 5, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Church United Methodist in Beaver Dam with Rev. Cherie Forret officiating. A visitation will be held prior from 10 a.m. until 10:50 a.m. at the church. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
