Edward Charles Jacobs was born on December 3, 1955 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to the late Richard and Martha (Cook) Jacobs. He graduated from Douglas McArthur High School in 1973 and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting from Michigan State University in 1981. Ed worked at the American National Bank in Beaver Dam for 30 years before retiring in 2017, serving many of those years as President and CEO. The bank was much more than a job for Ed. His passion for the bank and his colleagues, some of them for the entirety of his career, were truly an extension of his family.

He was an active member of the Beaver Dam community where he served as a board member of both Old Hickory Golf Club and Nancy’s Notions.  He was also a member of the Lions, the Elks, and the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Beaver Dam HOG Chapter and the Tombstone Snowmobile Club in Pickerel, WI.  Ed enjoyed golfing, fishing, riding his Harley, snowmobiling, and relaxing at his cabin in Pickerel, where he was the proud President of the Red Neck Yacht Club. He loved the lakes, whether he was fishing, snowmobiling or cruising in his UTV.  He had a great sense of humor, enjoyed a few cocktails and was the life of the party. Ed enjoyed sports, and was a huge fan of the NDSU Bison football team.

Survivors include his wife Mary Jacobs of Beaver Dam; three children, Martha Herdendorf (Casey), of Oconomowoc, Marie Jacobs, of Oconomowoc, and Edward Henry “Hank” Jacobs of Fargo, ND; a grandson Dane Jacob Herdendorf; brothers and sisters, Richard Jacobs of Beaver Dam, Mary Martha “Meme” Jacobs of Beaver Dam, Robert (Patti) Jacobs of Freeport, IL, Paul (Julie) Jacobs of LaCrosse, and Anne (Mark) Heuer of Beaver Dam; sister-in-law Martha O’Hara of Kalamazoo, MI, brother-in-law Sam Siddall of Lake Ann, MI and nieces and nephews: Hannah, Jacob, Emma, Kathryn, Paul, Michelle, Michael, Erin, Dan (Lauren), Travis, Maryea, Stephen, Robert, Mahrle and Noelle.  He is also survived by countless other family members, friends and colleagues. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, sister Terese Anne Jacobs, his mother and father in law Naomi and Stephen Siddall and brother-in-law Dan Siddall.

Memorials may be made in Edward C. Jacobs’ name to Pickerel / Crane Lake Protection & Rehabilitation District or St. Katharine Drexel School Endowment Fund.
