Obituary: Paula Lee Torgeson, age 68

Paula Lee Torgeson, the Fox Lake Library Director since 2009, died unexpectedly at her residence Sunday, March 25, 2018

She was born February 10, 1950, in Antigo, WI, the daughter of Russell W. and Florence J. Torgeson. She grew up in Combined Locks and was a 1968 graduate of Kimberly High School. After earning a Master of Library Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, she began a forty-year career in library administration. She held directorships in several Illinois and Wisconsin communities, notably, Dunlap, Byron, and DeKalb, Illinois before coming to Fox Lake. Her associates will remember her for creating and editing one of the earliest Internet newsletters for library professionals, which she called the Mad Hatter.

Paula is survived by two sons, Erik (Samantha) Koczorowski of Plover, WI, and David (Shannon) Lawlor of Biloxi, MS; two grandsons, Michael and Jacob Lawlor; and one brother, Greg Torgeson of Slinger, WI.

Honoring Paula’s wishes, private family services will be held.
