Joan was born in Barton (West Bend), WI on June 16, 1925.  She moved to Waukegan, IL with her family and met her husband Floyd there.  They married and raised their children in Gurnee, IL.  Joan was a homemaker and “kept the home fires burning” while Floyd was a talented carpenter and ran a successful construction business.  She kept a very orderly home, and there was always a hot meal on the table every night for her family. Joan and Floyd enjoyed fishing together, travel and cruises, and in their younger days snowmobiling.  They retired to Beaver Dam, WI in 1986.

Joan is survived by her son Donald (Nancy) Schreiber of Gurnee, IL, daughter Pamela (Bill) Sarsfield of Beaver Dam, WI, and her sister, Marion (Robert) Piquette of Woodstock, IL.  She leaves grandchildren Lori (Paul) Young, Nicholas (Maureen) Boyer, Elizabeth (Mark) Falejczyk, Amy (Roger) Kendall, Carrie (Eric) Somppi, Michael (Dawn) Luebke and Amanda (Ray) Deatherage, 13 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Dawn Barens, many nieces and nephews, and special friend Bettie Harvey.

A funeral service in Gurnee, IL will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at The Village Church of Gurnee, 1319 N. Hunt Club Road.  Visitation will begin at 10 AM until the time of service at 11 AM.   Burial will be at Warren Cemetery in Gurnee.  She will be laid to rest between her beloved husband Floyd (1922-2006) and her son Ronald (1945-1964).
