Obituary: Richard C. “Dick” Neefe, age 72

Richard C. “Dick” Neefe, age 72 of Beaver Dam and formerly of La Crosse, died on Saturday, April 21, 2018 after a short illness at University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison.  

Dick was born on February 1, 1946, second son to Cedric and Bernardine (Bissen) Neefe and grew up in La Crosse, WI.  He was a 1964 graduate of Aquinas High School. He continued his education at Coleman Vocational School, studying in the carpentry and electrician programs. In 1966, he enlisted in the Army Reserve. As a carpenter, he worked for several area construction companies in the La Crosse area. Dick, with good friend Jim Hurley, rode their motorcycles throughout the lower 48 states and several Canadian provinces.

Dick married Linda Simonson of Reedstown, WI in 1984. In the late 1980s, Dick moved his family to Beaver Dam, to take maintenance/construction position at the Fox Lake Correctional Institute.  Dick was a loyal union member throughout his life.  

Dick is survived by his son, Andrew Cedric Neefe of Sheboygan; two brothers, Tom (Diane) Neefe of La Crosse and James (Mickey) Neefe of Madison; nephews, Kyle (Tatiana) Neefe, Skylar and Hunter Neefe; many cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Linda and other relatives.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery, Beaver Dam.
