Alton “Buddy” “Effie” R. Lauersdorf, age 92 of Lowell, died at home on Saturday, August 4, 2018.

The celebration of Effie’s life will begin at Salem Lutheran Church in Lowell on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. It will continue at the church on Thursday, August 9, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Bruce Wietzke will officiate and burial will be at Lowell Cemetery.

Alton Robert Lauersdorf was born on August 16, 1925 in the Lowell Township to Frank and Emma (Boldt) Lauersdorf. On September 30, 1950 he was united in marriage with Marjorie Kohn at Salem Lutheran Church. They owned and operated a dairy farm in Lowell throughout their marriage. Effie was a constant caretaker; caring for others, neighbor’s farms, and the village. He delivered meals-on-wheels for a number of years and looked forward to the visits he would have with those he served. Buddy was the grounds keeper for St John’s Catholic Cemetery and was on the Lowell Cemetery Board. He was a dedicated, life-long member of Salem Lutheran Church, where he was the last survivor of his confirmation class and was the oldest member of the church. He was also on the church counsel and was head of the building and grounds. In his spare time, Buddy enjoyed playing cards with friends, family, and neighbors.

Effie is survived by his wife, Marjorie; children, James Lauersdorf (Mary Osterhoff) and Diane Kolbow; grandchildren, Pam Kolbow and Andy Kolbow (Rachael Derr); great grandson, Michael Kolbow; cousin, ErlineBaird; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Arnold and Charles; and son-in-law, Michael Kolbow.

Memorials may be made in Alton R. Lauersdorf’s name to Salem Lutheran Church.
