Obituary: Cornelius “Van” W. Vander Velden Jr., age 90

Cornelius “Van” W. Vander Velden Jr., age 90 of Fall River and formerly of South Milwaukee, passed away on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at The Meadows in Fall River.

Van was born on April 14, 1928 in Chico, CA, the son of Cornelius W. and Alene (Wood) Vander Velden Sr. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. On October 10, 1969, he was united in marriage to Sharon Apps. Van worked as an electrical technician at Allen Bradley and was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. His hobbies included brewing beer and tinkering with electrical projects, but more than anything, he treasured spending time with his late wife, Sharon.

Van is survived by his children, Randy (Paula) Vander Velden of Cudahy and Vanessa (Larry) Mueller of Crivitz; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Dean Vander Velden; sisters-in-law, Marlene Girmscheid and Diana (Roy) Seifert; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sons, Tracey and Robin.

Visitation for Van will be held on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 4419 S. Howell Ave., Milwaukee from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. (noon) with Rev. Andrew Nyren officiating.
