Obituary: Jerome E. Mullin, age 83

Jerome E. Mullin, age 83 of Fox Lake, passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam.

Jerome was born in Beaver Dam on January 20, 1935, the son of Emmett and Merna (Wheeler) Mullin. He graduated from Fox Lake High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On May 25, 1957 he was united in marriage to Shirley Ullrich at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fox Lake. He worked as a correctional officer at the Waupun Correctional Institution for 25 years. After retiring in 1990, he held a variety of part time jobs. Jerome was a great family man and was a member of Annunciation Catholic Parish in Fox Lake. He was the Fox Lake Legion Post #521 for more than 50 years and also served as City Constable and a volunteer firefighter for the city. Feeding and watching the birds and squirrels, as well as hunting were some of his favorite pastimes and he was an avid Packers fan.

Jerome is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Ann (Greg) Auten of Beaver Dam, Deb (Mike) Newton of Oakfield, and John (Laurie) Mullin of Verona; grandchildren, Lindsey Auten, Courtney (Trevor) Fenrich, Kaitlyn Mullin, Mikayla Newton, and Tanner Newton; great-grandchildren, Jayden, Kiarra, Cade, Trae, Grace, and Addalynn; siblings, Marlene Omernik, Kathleen (Donald) Pollesch, Gary (Jeanie) Mullin, Michael Mullin, and Christine Santana; brothers-in-law, Ed Ullrich and Roger (Lynn) Ullrich; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; father- and mother-in-law, Edwin and Hazel Ullrich; infant children, Pamela and Daniel; brother, Gerald “Moose” Mullin; niece, Bonnie Stowers; brother-in-law, Lee Omernik; sisters-in-law Donna Ullrich and Betty Mullin; and other relatives.

In honoring Jerome’s wishes, a private family service will be held. Jerome will be laid to rest at Riverside Memorial Park in Fox Lake.
