Marshfield Clinic Health System Offers Free Virtual Classes on Suicide Prevention

September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), 4.8% of adults have suicidal thoughts annually. What’s more, 18.8% of high school students report suicidal thoughts each year.

Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death for people in the 10 to 34 age group. 90% of those who die by suicide experienced symptoms of a mental health condition. However, only 46% were previously diagnosed.

Marshfield Clinic Health System Offers Free Virtual Classes

Marshfield Clinic Health System is offering a free virtual class on suicide prevention training. Question. Persuade. Refer. (QPR) aims to teach people to recognize the warning signs of suicide, how to someone at risk and persuade them to get help, and how to refer at-risk individuals to resources. This training is appropriate for individuals, organizations, and professional groups.
