The Beaver Dam Unified School District is proud to announce it has received grant funding under the Wisconsin Department of Justice School Safety Grant initiative in the amount of $187,000. The School Safety Initiative supports projects designed to improve K-12 school safety.

The district will use the funds to expand on the ongoing efforts to provide the most safe and secure school facilities possible. As part of the November 2016 building project referendum, all district school buildings are being updated to include safe and secure entrances. The funds awarded through the School Safety Grant will enhance those efforts by providing funding to allow for additional safety and security measures. The Beaver Dam Unified School District looks forward to making sure the enhanced security upgrades are put into place as soon as possible and project that the majority of them will be completed in the fall of 2018.

This investment by the Department of Justice and the Office of School Safety further endorses both our community efforts and the desire of our local, regional and state leadership to do all we can to keep our students and staff safe each day. Safe and secure learning environments are important in leading the way in student growth and achievement as we guide students and empower their futures.
