Sunday Tea – December 18, 2022

T’was The Week Before Christmas

T’was the week before Christmas and things were not done;
Not the cookies, the presents, the stocking, not one.

The stocking for baby must be sewn with care,
To be hung and then filled with the rest of them there.

The presents were purchased for Ella and John,
They’re hidden away until wrapping they don.

The cookies will be made just as soon as I can,
A snowman, a candy cane, a gingerbread man.

With so much not done, how can Christmas be here?
It’s not just the things that bring us Christmas cheer.

It’s the love of our family both near and far.
It’s sharing with friends and following a star

Leading us through this busy holiday time,
Spreading joy to all who see its bright shine.

It’s warm fuzzy blankets and cuddled together
Safe, comfy, and cozy no matter the weather.

So what if the cookies don’t ever get made?
That’s not a reason Christmas should be delayed.

I must admit though, I’ll feel rather diminished
If Elliana’s stocking never gets finished.

So this week I will cut, pin, iron, and sew
Before I wrap the presents or make cookie dough.

But for now we are resting under the tree,
Ben and John sipping cocoa and I Sunday tea.
