Obituary: Donald H. Everman, age 81

Donald H. Everman, age 81 of Beaver Dam, died on Monday, December 10, 2018 at Clearview Health & Rehabilitation in Juneau.

Visitation will be at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church in Beaver Dam on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 from 10:00 AM until 11:50 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at the church at 12:00 Noon with Fr. Michael J. Erwin officiating. A private entombment will take place at Allouez Catholic Cemetery and Chapel Mausoleum in Green Bay on Wednesday.

Donald Henry Everman was born on August 16, 1937, in Madison to Donald H. and Winifred M. (Bourk) Everman.  He graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1955 and then graduated UW Oshkosh in 1962.  Don later attended UW Madison for three years, graduating in 1977 with a degree in Bank Administration.  On September 21, 1974, he was united in marriage with Patricia Gleason in Green Bay. Don worked for Bank One for 34 years, retiring in 1996.  While there, he furthered his education by attending a Dale Carnegie course and receiving diplomas from Dunn & Bradstreet in Personal Finance and in Credit and Financial Analysis.

Don loved sports and was active throughout his life.  He played on the Madison Home Talent League team, as well as other city baseball teams and he coached Babe Ruth baseball.  Don played many years in the city basketball league; he played for Badger Business Machines, Sports Shop, and Green Giant.  He also played in the YMCA league and played on the State Championship team one year.   Don loved to follow the Beavers, the Badgers, the Brewers, the Bucks and the Packers, and at one time was a season ticket holder.

Don was an active member of the community.  He and his wife ran the Dodge County Toy Bank for 25 years.  He was a trustee and the council chairperson at St. Patrick Catholic Church and was treasurer of St. Patrick Cemetery.  He also served on the UCPS/St. Katharine Drexel School Board Finance Committee for 25 years.  He served on the BDHS Business Education Advisory Committee for a number of years and served in an advisory and participation capacity for the Cooperative Office Management Program at Beaver Dam High School.  Don, along with Bill Hoefs, served for a number of years with Beaver Dam Area Commerce and Industry campaign for the Leukemia Society of America and he served on various fund drives for the United Way.

Don was an active member of the St. Vincent De Paul Society in Beaver Dam where he served as treasurer of the Dodge County Council for many years.  He was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Church and he was a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1837 in Beaver Dam.  He was a former member of the BPOE Lodge 1540 in Beaver Dam and was a committee member and treasurer for the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 42.

Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Kathleen (Carl) Williamson of Sun Prairie and Angie Everman of Plover, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pat in 2009; his brother, John Everman; sisters-in-law, Maureen (Richard) Horan and Celine Kanellos, and a sister-in-law, Imelda, in infancy.

Don requested that memorials be made in his name to St. Katharine Drexel Conference of St Vincent De Paul, 408 S. Spring Street, Beaver Dam, WI, 53916.
