Obituary: Meg Sekel

Meg Sekel, age 55 of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at St. Marys Hospital in Madison.

Margaret Meg Exner was born on August 15, 1963 in Beaver Dam, the daughter of Donald and Irene (Decker) Exner. She graduated from Beaver Dam High School with the class of 1981 and earned a bachelors degree in education from UW-Eau Claire. She taught for over 25 years, with the majority of her time at Beaver Dam High School, where she was a very passionate advocate for special education. She loved raising her daughter and spending time with her family. Relaxing by the pool and knitting were some of her favorite hobbies. An animal lover, Megs beaming smile and infectious laugh will always be remembered.

Meg is survived by her daughter, Mary Claire (Brandon) Olufs of Rice Lake; father, Don Exner of Beaver Dam; siblings, Judy (David) Walseth of Vancouver, WA, Jim (Peg) Exner of Beaver Dam, Michael (Jeanne) Exner of Seneca, SC and John (Jodeen) Exner of Janesville; former husband, Russ Sekel; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother; grandparents; sister Mary Beth and other relatives.

A memorial gathering to celebrate Megs life will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2019 from 2:00 5:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., Beaver Dam.
