Senior Expo - May 18th @ Wayland Academy Field House

More than sixty vendor booths will participate in the upcoming Senior Expo, set for Wednesday, May 18th from 9 am-2 pm at the Wayland Academy Field House in Beaver Dam.  The Active Adult Resource Council invites the public to this annual free event, sponsored by Visiting Angels. This year’s highlights along with dozens of booths, entertainment, a WBEV/WXRO Brat Fry and Bingo, will be a Cake Decorating Contest. As part of Beaver Dam’s 175th Anniversary Celebration, community members have been invited to design anniversary cakes.  Idea Exchange host Brenda Murphy will emcee the contest, awarding a top prize of $175. The public will have a chance to vote on the appearance of the best cake and be given an opportunity in the afternoon to taste the cakes.

Doors open at 9 am. The Senior Expo will feature area musician Jeremiah Purdy from 9 am -10 am as a solo guitarist. Dodge County Master Gardeners will give a presentation at 10 a.m. on Butterfly Gardening, Antique Appraisals with Shroud Appraisals from 9 am to 1 pm (the public may bring items along to be appraised), and a featured stage presentation at 11 a.m., the Brat Fry is open from 11 am and 2 pm, and Wayland’s acapella singers “Almost Famous” will perform at 1 p.m.  The Cake Decorating Contest judging will begin at 1 p.m. as well with winners announced at 1:30 p.m.

Anyone from the community interested in discovering resources, products and services for an active senior lifestyle is welcome. Dozens of door prizes will be awarded and Summit Credit Union will be showcasing their “money booth.” Vendor booths remain open until 2 pm.

The Platinum Sponsor for this event is Visiting Angels along with Gold Sponsors including Beaver Dam Community Hospital and City of Beaver Dam Communities Activities and Services. Silver sponsors are ChiropracticUSA, Crossroads Care Center of Mayville, Dodge County Housing Authority, Good Karma Broadcasting, Lamers Tour and Travel, Rainbow Hospice Care, Stoughton Hospital, Summit Credit Union, and Waupun Chiropractic.  A free shuttle bus will drop guests at the Wayland Field House from the Park Village Shopping Center parking lot.

The Field House is located on south campus at the corner of University and Park Avenue in Beaver Dam.
