The Odd Couple

The Beaver Dam Area Community Theater presents Neil Simon’s Tony award winning comedy “The Odd Couple” running from May 3rd to May 14th at the BDACT stage on 219 North Spring Street in Beaver Dam.

This classic comedy highlights the hilarious story of recently divorced, broke and sloppy Oscar Madison and self-indulgent, slightly neurotic clean freak Felix Unger who become unlikely roommates after the sudden demise of their marriages.

There is already a patron saint of laughter…, but Neil Simon is a close second. Simon is quoted saying; “Never underestimate the stimulation of eccentricity.” There is plenty of eccentricity in the characters portrayed in the show that won Tony awards for Best Actor, Best Author, Best Direction of a Play, and Best Scenic Design, and was nominated for Best Play. The Broadway play also spawned an Academy Award winning movie, and two long running TV sitcoms.

Directed by Trevor Kastein and Produced by Beth Jewell and Ron Wilkie, the show features star comedic actors Paul McMillan and Dan Landsness, plus a veteran supporting cast.

Show dates are May 3, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13 and 14. Doors open at 7:00 with lights up at 7:30 for all performances except Sunday matinees on the 7th and 14th when doors open at 1:30 and lights up at 2:00.  A pre-view night will be held on Wednesday, May 3rd at 7:30 pm at the last dress rehearsal.  It’s a great value at $5.00 as the cast interacts with an audience for the first time.

Tickets are on sale now for $10, $15, and $17 at BDACT or at Rechek’s Food Pride in Beaver Dam. 920-887-7675.

The cast stars Bonnie Franke, Tony Kikkert, Dan Landsness, Jim McMillan, Paul McMillan, Bryce Muenchow, Amy Patterson, and Wes Reshel.
