David E. “Dulie” Miller, of Beaver Dam, passed away at age 86 surrounded by loving family.

The memorial gathering will be held at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church in Beaver Dam on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:50 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at church on Wednesday at 12:00 noon with Fr. Mike Erwin officiating. Inurnment will be at St. Peter Cemetery at a later date.

David was born June 5, 1932 in the Town of Westford, the son of Ben and Gladys (Banes) Miller. On July 16, 1955, he married the former Lorraine Rake at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church in Columbus, Wisconsin. Together they farmed the Miller Century Homestead, the 4th generation to do so. He was a life-long member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, now St. Katharine Drexel. In the past, he served on the Parish Council.

During his farming years, Dulie was very active in the National Farmers Organization (NFO) being chairman of the Dairy Committee and serving as President of the Dodge County NFO. He was owner and operator of David E. Miller Excavating until his retirement in 2014. In spite of adversities, Dave remained an inspiration to others. He enjoyed FFA, musical and sporting events of his children and grandchildren, and never turned down a dice game. Driving around the neighborhood in his Kubota and visiting with friends gave him great joy. There wasn’t a task Dulie couldn’t handle or a lesson he couldn’t teach.

David will be greatly missed by his wife, Lorraine; his sons, Daryl (Roxie) Miller of Beaver Dam, Doug (Kathy) Miller of Watertown, and Dean (Jennifer) Miller of Marshall; his daughters, Lynn Miller of North Palm, FL, Lana (Brian) Ferstl of Beaver Dam, Lucy (Troy) Fowler of Argyle, TX, and Lois Miller (special friend, Adam Kraft) of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, David (Jessica) Miller, Dominic Miller, Dacia (Sarah Gonzalez) Miller, Nicole (Tim) Olszewski, Ashley Miller, Beth Miller, Brianna Ferstl, Brandon Ferstl, Brett Ferstl, Kara Kennedy (special friend, Nick Olson), Gretchen (Mark) Bahr, and Dodge Fowler; great grandchildren, Kyler, Greyson, and Quinn; his sister, LaVonne (Terry) Willie; brother-in-law, Richard Emery; other relatives and friends. Dulie was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Miller; sisters, Marilynn Emery and Jean Kelnhofer; brother-in-law, Lee Kelnhofer; and parents-in-law, Clem and Idella Rake.

The family wishes to thanks Hillside Homecare / Hospice, Hillside Manor, and Dr. Joel Miller and staff for all of the compassion and care given to David.
