Planning The Downtown Revitalization – A Suggestion

Good Morning Beaver Dam,

I have a suggestion for you.

As a young man (circa: 1976) I participated in an organized bicycle ride called The Dodge 64. The ride began in Watertown and looped through Dodge County. I distinctly remember Beaver Dam, riding onto South Spring Street and being immediately impressed with the unusual layout – unique stone work – and shade trees that we rested beneath.

Fast forward 2018: That very unique layout still exists. Originally constructed in 1965, this three-block corridor, is perfect for a pedestrian and bicycle only corridor.

So – While planning your downtown revitalization – consider prohibiting auto traffic on South Spring Street from Park Avenue to Mill Street. Yes – no cars, just an attractive downtown market area. Make your community more livable – please give it some thought.

Respectfully
