Museum of Wisconsin Art in Partnership with Ansay Development Corporation Announces Launch of Artist-in-Residence Program in Luxembourg

(WEST BEND, WI) The Museum of Wisconsin Art (MOWA) in partnership with Ansay Development Corporation (ADC) is excited to announce the launch of a 3-month Artist-in-Residence Program at Bourglinster Castle in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg. Sponsored by ADC and supported by the Ministry of Culture in Luxembourg, this is the first artist-in-residence opportunity offered through MOWA for Wisconsin artists. The first residency will start in February 2015. Details and the application are at The deadline to apply is September 8, 2014. 

Housing, travel, and a monthly stipend for three months are included in the Program. The artist will live in an individual apartment within Bourglinster, a converted castle, located just 15 minutes outside the City Center. Working with a group of five to six other artists from around the world, the artist will have complete freedom for work and making connections in Europe.

The Program was conceived as a way of helping introduce Wisconsin artists to the international art scene. This is yet another example of how MOWA is focused on creating a petri dish of opportunity for Wisconsin artists.”

The Artist-in-Residence Program in Luxembourg is open to artists working in any medium who either live in Wisconsin currently or have had transformational art experiences in Wisconsin that link them to the State in a significant and recognizable way. Preference will be given to emerging artists with a proven track record and mid-career artists with gallery representation and a growing national and/or international reputation. 

The application form along with complete details for submission can be found at The top three finalists must be available for an in-person interview between September 9th and 17th. Final selection will be based on the quality of the artist’s work, potential impact of the residency on the artist, and the artist’s ability to work effectively in an international setting.

The winning artist will be announced on September 20 at Vintage MOWA 2014, MOWA’s premier wine event.
