April K. Hallberg, 36 years old, of Columbus, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at her home.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 13th at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, 812 Western Ave., Columbus, with the Rev. Daniel Sims and the Rev. Robert Wilke officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 12th from 3:00 -6:00 p.m., and also on Saturday, Dec. 13th from 9:30 -11:00 a.m. Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Columbus.
April was born the daughter of David and Joann (Parton) Schimmel on November 20, 1978 in Alexandria, VA. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Springfield, VA. April was united in marriage to Mike Hallberg on November 15, 2000 in Alexandria, VA.
Together they raised their five children. April loved being a mother and referred to taking care of her family as her greatest blessing. She cared for her family and they were her highest priority. April had a great outlook on life and enjoyed making other people happy. April was very artistic and liked music. She felt it was important to share those qualities with others.
April is survived by her husband Mike of Columbus; her five children: Hannah, Nathan, Rebecca, Addison, and Emma, all of Columbus; her parents David Schimmel of Columbus and Joann Schimmel of Columbus; three sisters: Alisa, Julie, and Kristen; her father & mother-in-law Don & Cherie Hallberg of Elgin, IA; her brother-in-law, Doug (Kristi) Hallberg; her sister-in-law Vicki Durnan; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. April is preceded in death by her grandparents.
