Obituary: Hilda Tietz

Hilda Tietz, 91, a resident of the Skaalen Home in Stoughton and formerly of Beaver Dam passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at the Skaalen Home.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam with the Rev. Paul Stratman officiating.  A visitation will also be held on Saturday from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at the church.  Inurnment will take place at Highland Memory Gardens at a later date.

Hilda was born the daughter of John and Helen (Brummand) Koch on June 10, 1923 in Marathon County, WI.  She was married to Marvin Tietz on August 30, 1941 at St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.  Hilda was employed as a CNA at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam for over 25 years until her retirement and continued to volunteer with Hillside Manor following her retirement. 

Hilda was a faithful member of St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.  Hilda was an avid gardener and loved flowers.  She was an excellent cook.  Hilda will be remembered for not only caring for her husband, but also many family members during their time of need.

Hilda is survived by her son, Ervin Tietz of Enid, OK; her daughter, Marilyn Bakken of Madison; three grandchildren: Michael, Steven and Sherri; eight great grandchildren; and further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Marvin, her two brothers: Vernon and Norman, and one sister, Mona.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Hilda’s name may be directed to the Skaalen Home, 400 N. Morris St., Stoughton, WI 53589.
