Jones, Vincent Francis  April 11, 1935 – December 16, 2015

Vincent Jones, 80, passed away peacefully at his home in Mequon on December 16 with his cherished wife at his side.  His last wishes, to celebrate his thirty-eighth wedding anniversary with Mary and to live out his days at home, were mercifully granted.

Vincent is survived by his loving wife, Mary (nee Daley) Jones, Mequon; his sisters-in-law: Helen Gehrke, Columbus, WI, Jane Rietveld, Iron Mt., MI, and Sr. Joeann Daley O.P. of Shorewood, WI.  Vince was the proud uncle of nine nieces and nephews, fifteen grand-nieces and nephews and a new great-grandniece.  Vince inherited dozens of cousins whom he enjoyed immensely as friends.  Above all he was a devoted husband to his Anam Cara, his soul friend.

Vince loved life!  He had the gifts of laughter, listening, and learning and enjoyed sharing life with everyone he met.  He loved to enhance a lively conversation with a glass of Champagne or Jameson.  He was an avid reader and history buff, especially military and all things Irish.  He twice fulfilled his dream to visit Ireland with Mary, returning just weeks before his stomach cancer was diagnosed.  Without hesitation he chose to forgo treatment and enjoy his transition time in his beloved home with Mary, in the company of family, friends, and neighbors.

Vincent Jones grew up surfing in Long Beach, CA where he received a Dominican and Jesuit education.  After graduation he proudly joined the U.S. Marine Corps where he served with valor in Korea and was awarded the Purple Heart.  After working in California for some years, he transferred to the Midwest where he met and married Mary.  In 1996, at the age 61, he began a new career at his dream job with a growing new company, API, Inc. in Hartford.  He loved his job and the people there and worked happily until age 71.  He then enjoyed nine contented years of retirement traveling or just enjoying the peace and beauty of his beloved home.

A visitation will be held at the Koepsell-Zeidler Funeral Home in Columbus on Sunday, December 20, 2015 from 12 p.m. (noon) until 2 p.m. with a vigil beginning at 1:45 p.m.  A visitation will also be held on Monday, December 21st from 10 a.m. until the time of the closing service at 10:20 a.m. at the funeral home.  Afterwards, the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Columbkille Catholic Church, W10802 County Road TT in thetownship of Elba with the Rev.
