George I. “Tryce” Welch IV,

George I. “Tryce” Welch IV, 59, passed away on March 11, 2016, from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident in Evansville, IN.

Tryce was born July 28, 1956, in McAllen, TX to George I. Welch III and Dorothy S. “Dotti” (Slayton) Welch.  At a young age his family moved to Beaver Dam, WI where he resided most of his life. He attended Beaver Dam High School. Following in the footsteps of his father, George I. Welch III he joined the US Air Force in 1974.

Tryce was a world class bike builder, starting his racing career by racing motocross when he was a teen. He used to build motorcycles for Spangler's when he was a teenager, then moved on to Mischler's to build bikes for them.  He started working for Young America in Madison, WI and later opened his own business Fast Forward Racing. He was proud to help his daughter Stevie make her dream come true of becoming a national number holder in flat track racing. He followed his dream building bikes and chasing “his kids” around the country, helping them make their life long dreams come true of becoming professional motorcycle racers, as their mentor and mechanic.  Most recently Tryce was the backbone of his granddaughter Alexis’ competitive shooting campaign. He over saw the training, equipment and promotion of her. The efforts of both Tryce and Alexis took a young energetic girl from a local plinker to a nationally sponsored and fierce competitor.  Tryce will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who he has mentored and inspired in the Shooting world.

He is survived by his three children: Jason Riley Welch, Erica Ann Welch, and Stephanie “Stevie” Lee Welch; his six grandchildren, Levi Parker, Riley Alexandra, Alexis Nicole, Jackson David, Eric Christian and Emily Rose; three siblings, Chele Reeves, Michael (Theone) Welch and Carrie (Kevin) Quiring; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, George I. Welch III, his mother, Dorothy “Dottie” Brown, his step-father Merlin “Mert” Brown and his former wife Cindy Welch-O’Dell.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2016, at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in Owensboro, KY.
