Obituary: Richard E. Kohls

Richard E. Kohls, 69, of Beaver Dam passed away after a hard fought battle with cancer on Friday, August 19, 2016 at the Beaver Dam Community Hospital surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.  The Rev. Collin VanderHoof will officiate.  A visitation will also be held on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the church.  Interment will take place at the Brownsville Community Cemetery, Brownsville, WI.  

Richard was born the son of Elmer and Marcella (Huber) Kohls on June 15, 1947 in Columbus, WI.  He attended Waterloo High School.  Richard was married to Linda Schmidt on July 21, 1973 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Reeseville.  Rick farmed in the Dodge County area most of his life.  Afterwards, he was employed with Luedtke Lumber in Lomira and ran a lawn mowing business for many years.

Rick was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.  He was an avid San Francisco 49s fan.  Rick enjoyed playing cards and collecting antique tractors.  He especially loved spending time with his grandkids and being with his family.  

Richard is survived by his wife, Linda of Beaver Dam; his daughters: Heather (Howard) Voight of Pickett, WI, Michelle (Steve) Kopischke of Fond du Lac, and Mellissa (Corey) Schelvan of Lomira; his sister, Beverly Drunasky of De Pere, WI; his grandchildren: Skylar and Cody Lapine, Tiffany Kopischke, and Matthew and Mason Schelvan; his great grandson, Iziah Kopischke; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings: Eleanor Westphal and John Kohls.
