Wayland Academy in Beaver Dam has announced R.E.D. Robotics Camp dates for a three-day summer camp for youth entering 6th thru 9th grades. This is the second year Wayland has offered this summer school opportunity. R.E.D. stands for Robotics, Engineering and Design using the STEAM principles of Science, Math, Engineering, Art and Design.
The camp is sponsored by SainSmart. Youth will explore, create and take home projects using the latest materials and technology in Wayland’s cutting edge STEAM lab. Mathematics Department Chair Jon Shoop stated, “We are excited to have improved Robotics Camp for year two by reducing the class size to 15 students per session and adding a take-home Arduino Uno Kit,” said Mr. Shoop, “This is an accelerated event meant to be an introduction to robotics, engineering and digital design in a fun learning environment.
Youth will learn how to program and build robots, and they’ll learn how to transform an idea into a digital creation,” Shoop added. “We look forward to sharing these fun and interesting resources with the community this summer.”
R.E.D. robotics camp will be held in the George S. and Nancy B. Parker Science Education Center 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. during two different sessions. Session one is scheduled for Wednesday through Friday, June 15-17th while session two is the following week from Monday to Wednesday on June 20-22nd.
Space is limited so families are asked to contact Wayland Academy at (920) 356-2120 ext. 236 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Tuition for camp is $145. All materials including the ARDUINO UNO KIT, a flash drive with Wayland lanyard, lunch, T-shirt, and a printed memento from a group are included in that fee.
A registration form can be found under the Camps and Conferences section of the Wayland website at www.wayland.org or a hard copy brochure may also be picked up at Wayland Academy.
